Amazon To Rival Blinkit, Zepto, And Other Q-Commerce Giants With New App Tez; All You Need To Know

Amazon is seeking to scoop off the desi quick-commerce pie with ‘Tez.’ The hitherto unannounced venture by the e-commerce giant is already on a recruitment spree, scouting for SDEs (software development engineers) for Tez that describes itself as the India Grocery and Everyday Essentials team. The job posting claims that the firm is gearing up to unroll a brand new e-commerce experience.
Per the Economic Times, the new Amazon instant delivery app might be launched in December. Reportedly, the service was first scheduled to launch in early 2025, but the Jeff Bezos company seems to be in a hurry to grab a slice of the $5.56 billion in monthly sales by rivals Blinkit, Zepto, and Swiggy’s Insyamart. The app’s working title is reminiscent of Google’s desi product by the same name that was rebranded as Google Pay. One user on X/Twitter remarked that Amazon has been too late and too slow in the domain. Another user suggested that super apps don’t work. The user reminded that most folks do not even use the Amazon UPI. It would only be wise to launch a separate app for the service. However, Swiggy would disagree with the argument.
