Bira 91, one of India’s leading craft beer makers, is reportedly facing rising discontent among current and former employees.Issues such as pending salaries, unreimbursed allowances, and unresolved dues have been highlighted by several individuals, months after the company initiated an internal restructuring — a move that many say was never formally announced as a layoff.
A former sales executive shared that after resigning in December, they were asked to serve a two-month notice. However, the period was cut short unexpectedly in January, and despite repeated follow-ups, dues remain unpaid even after 90 days, with the latest communication pointing to a May 31 resolution.
According to employee accounts, salary delays began in November 2024, and reimbursements for daily travel and work expenses were suspended around the same time. In January 2025, many employees were suddenly reassigned to different roles or locations, with some claiming they were told to resign if unwilling to comply. One former marketing team member mentioned that roughly 70% of the team was shifted to sales roles across states, forcing several to exit the company.
As the situation unfolds, former staff are hoping for clarity and timely resolution of outstanding payments.
