Last month, ET Wealth reported that the Ahmedabad Hospital and Nursing Home Association (AHNA) had suspended cashless claim settlements with TATA AIG, CARE Health, and Star Health Insurance at hospitals in Ahmedabad. The suspension was due to these insurers arbitrarily delisting multiple hospitals in the city and refusing to revise treatment rates, which made it financially unsustainable for the hospitals.
As a result, individuals in Ahmedabad who held health insurance policies with these insurers were unable to access cashless treatments at various hospitals and nursing homes. However, there is good news for policyholders in the city: effective immediately, AHNA has resumed cashless settlements with Star Health and CARE Health.
According to AHNA president Dr. Bharat Gadhavi, "We received representations from both Star Health and CARE, and we were able to have productive and conclusive discussions with their authorities. Following this, we have decided to reinstate cashless claim settlements for these insurers."
This means that residents of Ahmedabad holding CARE or Star Health insurance policies can now settle their hospital claims without paying upfront. Previously, these policyholders were only able to claim reimbursement by paying out of pocket first and then filing for reimbursement with the insurers.
