Swiggy Instamart's 2024 report highlights diverse and surprising shopping trends. Big spenders from Delhi and Dehradun splurged over Rs 20 lakhs each, mainly on kitchen essentials like atta, milk, and oil. The top five must-have items across India included milk, curd, dosa batter, chips, and soft drinks, with 1 in every 15 orders including milk. The insights are based on data collected from January 1 to December 1, 2024.
Notably, 1 in 140 orders included a sexual wellness product, with Bengaluru emerging as the top spender on condoms. Late-night shopping sprees, particularly between 10-11 PM, featured popular items like masala-flavored chips, Kurkure, and flavored condoms. Delhi, Hyderabad, and Bengaluru were the top cities for these stealthy orders.
The report also highlighted a wide range of purchases, from pet supplies worth Rs 15 lakh to a Rs 3 pencil sharpener, showcasing the diversity of items ordered on the platform. A Mumbai pet lover spent over Rs 15 lakh on pet supplies, primarily dog and cat food, while a Chennai user spent Rs 1.25 lakh on electronics, including gaming earphones and home appliances. In Hyderabad, one user led a mango frenzy, spending Rs 35,000 on mangoes in May.
