The National Restaurant Association of India (NRAI) on Friday urged its members to exercise caution before joining Zomato and Swiggy's newly introduced dine-in programmes. In an advisory to its more than 50,000 members, the NRAI said the dine-in programmes of the two food delivery apps offer no tangible value to restaurants nor do they solve any of the industry's problems. "After squeezing the last drop of revenue from the delivery business", food delivery apps Zomato and Swiggy want to get a "firm foothold" in the dine-in business, said NRAI's advisory. An email query sent to Softbank-backed Swiggy remained unanswered till as of press time. A statement issued by Ant Group-backed Zomato said the company's new dining product has been live in Hyderabad for a few weeks with great results. "We are confident that we will create tremendous value and growth for the industry," a spokesperson for Zomato said in the statement. "We are looking forward to working with progressive restaurants."
