PhonePe has partnered with Liquid Group to allow travelers to easily scan and pay using their PhonePe app at Liquid Group's merchant locations in Singapore. Through Liquid Group's partnership with NPCI International Payments Limited (NIPL), merchants can now accept UPI payments, enabling Indian travelers to use their UPI apps for transactions. PhonePe users can scan merchant QR codes to make payments in Indian Rupees (INR). Additionally, PhonePe users can receive international remittances via UPI through the PayNow-UPI corridor, allowing for faster transfers without requiring bank details. NRIs in Singapore can link their NRE/NRO accounts to pay for various services in India, such as utility bills, fund transfers, and payments to merchants online or in-store. This partnership aims to bring the convenience of UPI payments to Indian travelers visiting Singapore. Liquid Group's CCO, Alvin Seck, stated that the partnership aligns perfectly with their goal of making global payments more accessible and efficient for consumers and businesses alike. QR codes will be available at various popular tourist spots, duty-free shops, restaurants, bars, and retailers, as well as sightseeing locations and transport services in Singapore.
