India's highly-competitive quick commerce business is set for a new battle as Tata's BigBasket is planning a new strategy. According to an Economic Times report, BigBasket will ramp up its operations in the quick commerce segment to take on Zepto, Swiggy, and Blinkit.
As part of the plan, BigBasket will set up as many as 600 dark stores across the country. These dark stores will be aligned with the mega warehouses to help reduce the delivery time. The ET report said that so far, BigBasket has around 60 large warehouses across India.
BigBasket co-founders Hari Vipul Parekh and Menon said that in the coming weeks, the company will shift its focus solely on quick commerce business. The report added that the company's BB Now will lead this shift.
