About HDFC Securities

  • HDFC Securities Limited is one of India's largest full-service stockbroking and financial services companies, operating as a subsidiary of HDFC Bank — the country's largest private sector bank by assets. Incorporated in April 2000 and headquartered in Mumbai, the company offers a comprehensive suite of products: equity and derivatives trading, mutual fund and insurance distribution, fixed income instruments (bonds, NCDs, and FDs), currency derivatives, margin trade funding (MTF), and wealth management services for retail, HNI, and institutional clients.

  • As of March 31, 2025, HDFC Securities' total income stood at ₹3,263.80 crore — up 22.69% year-on-year — with brokerage and fee income of ₹1,744 crore, 84% of which was generated through digital channels. In FY2025-26, the company reported total income of ₹3,110 crore and profit after tax of ₹930 crore, with earnings per share of ₹522. The company carries zero debt, distinguishing it from most listed peers in the broking space.

  • HDFC Securities is registered with SEBI and is a corporate member of the NSE, BSE, and MCX, as well as both NSDL and CDSL depositories. It serves over 2 million active clients as of 2026, ranking among India's top five brokers by trading volumes. Around 97% of active clients transact through its digital platforms, reflecting one of the highest digital adoption rates among full-service brokers in India.

  • The company operates two distinct brands under the HDFC Securities umbrella: HDFC Securities — a full-service platform offering research-backed advisory, 3-in-1 account integration (savings + trading + demat), and institutional equities; and HDFC SKY — a discount broking app launched in 2023 targeting Gen-Z, millennials, and new-age investors with flat ₹20/order brokerage, US stock access, and a single all-in-one investment platform. HDFC SKY is India's only bank-backed discount.

  • HDFC Securities was established in 2000 through a joint venture between HDFC Bank, HDFC Limited, and Indocean eSecurities Holdings. In 2006, HDFC Bank acquired HDFC Ltd's stake, and by 2008, HDFC Securities became a fully owned subsidiary. HDFC Bank held a 94.05% stake in HDFC Securities as of December 31, 2025. The company operates 250+ branches across India and is headquartered in Mumbai, Maharashtra.

  • From a valuation standpoint, HDFC Securities unlisted shares are currently trading at a 16x P/E multiple — appearing attractively priced compared to listed broking peers like Angel One (28x) and Groww (52x). Market estimates project an eventual IPO valuation of ₹30,000–₹45,000 crore, with an expected issue size of ₹4,000–₹6,000 crore, primarily structured as an OFS by HDFC Bank. No DRHP has been filed with SEBI as of the date of this publication.
