Ronnie Screwvala is one of India's most influential and successful entrepreneurs, who has made a mark in the fields of media, entertainment, education, sports, and philanthropy. He is the founder and chairman of upGrad, India's largest online higher education platform, which recently achieved a valuation of $2.25 billion led by ETS Global, Bodhi Tree.

• He started his career as a toothbrush manufacturer. He founded a company called Royal Toothbrushes, which made toothbrushes from nylon bristles imported from Korea.

• He later pioneered cable TV in India in the early 1980s, and founded UTV in 1990 as a television content production company. He expanded UTV into a diversified media conglomerate, partnering with global giants like News Corp, 20th Century Fox, Disney, and Bloomberg.

• He also ventured into film production, and backed some of the most critically and commercially successful movies in Bollywood, such as Rang De Basanti, Jodhaa Akbar, Barfi, and Paan Singh Tomar.

• He also co-founded U SPORTS, focusing on sports like kabaddi, eSports, and football, with an emphasis on training and managing young talent for professional careers in India and globally. He re-entered the media and entertainment industry with the establishment of RSVP Movies, a company focused on developing its own scripts and screenplays and collaborating with directors who share a vision for storytelling.

• He is the founder of Unilazer Ventures Private Limited, a private equity and venture capital firm that invests in early- and late-stage startups across various sectors, such as education, media, e-commerce, and healthcare.

• Unilazer Ventures has invested in over 30 startups, and has exited from 14 of them. Some of its notable investments include Lenskart.com, LIDO Learning, Niki.ai, Easypolicy Insurance Web Aggregators Pvt. Ltd., and Zivame. Some of its notable exits include: M.I.T.R.A., Indus Insights, InI Farms, and ShopClues.
