Goa Shipyard Sets Sail on a Course of Remarkable Growth

Goa Shipyard Ltd (GSL) is a renowned shipyard specializing in the construction of medium-sized, sophisticated vessels. Strategically located at Vasco da Gama, Goa, GSL serves the Indian Navy, Indian Coast Guard, and other clients. As a Central Public Sector Enterprise (CPSE) under the Ministry of Defence, GSL boasts a 98.3% government stake. Its in-house R&D unit, recognized by the Ministry of Science & Technology, is equipped with advanced CAD/CAM facilities and world-class software like AVEVA Marine and FORAN.

The company has recently operationalized a Virtual Reality Center (VRC) to visualize the 3D stereoscopic model of warship and use them for enhanced design review. The VRC will allow ship designers to solve complex design problems at an early design phase, thus avoiding delays.

It is projected that by 2027, Goa Shipyard Limited will have completed the construction of twenty-four cargo ships, to be supplied to Russia, that will be used in the Caspian Sea.
