• Vishal Chopra's roots trace back to Srinagar, Jammu and Kashmir, where he was born and raised in a family with notable connections in the film industry. His father, D. N. Chopra, and half-brother, renowned filmmaker Ramanand Sagar, shaped his upbringing. Originating from Peshawar, British India, his family's life took a turn due to the Kashmir conflict in 1990, leading his mother, Shanti Devi Mahalakshmi, to relocate from Kashmir. In a heartfelt tribute, Vishal dedicated his film "Shikara" to his mother, depicting the struggles faced during that tumultuous period.
