While cars have maintained the standard road safety features such as airbags, Anti-lock Braking Systems (ABS), and Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS), the two-wheeler segment has lagged in this area, with safety innovations like ABS and Advanced Rider Assistance Systems (ARAS) only being introduced after governmental mandates and often with delays.

Ather Energy is challenging the trend by integrating advanced safety features directly into their EV scooters, combining hardware and software in a way that allows for more comprehensive and responsive safety measures. According to the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways’ Road Accidents in India 2022 report, in a country where nearly 45% of all road fatalities involve two-wheelers, Ather’s focus on rider safety is particularly critical.
