  • Korea's Daewoo makes a comeback to India with automotive batteries

    24 June 2024

In the late 1990s, Daewoo Motors India was among the first foreign car manufacturers to set up production in India, introducing popular models like the Matiz and Cielo. However, the company's presence in India was short-lived due to financial troubles at its parent company in South Korea. Daewoo Motors India ceased operations in 2001, marking the end of its brief but impactful stint in the Indian automotive sector.

Now, after more than two decades, the brand is making a comeback, albeit in a different segment of the automotive industry. The company is launching a range of advanced four-wheeler batteries for cars, trucks, tractors, and buses, designed specifically to meet the challenges of Indian roads and climate conditions.
