MUMBAI: State-owned Oil and Natural Gas Corporation Ltd (ONGC) is set to hire six oil drilling rigs, including one from Greatship (India) Ltd, for day rates rancing between after wrapping up price negotiations following a global tender, multiple sources said. Greatship (India) Ltd is the offshore unit of the Great Eastern Shipping Co Ltd, India's biggest private ocean carrier. India's biocest oil and gas explorer will hire two jack-up rigs each from Dubai-based Shelf Drilling Ltd and Abu Dhabi-based Foresight Offshore Drilling Ltd S.A and one from Jindal Drilling & Industries Ltd, all on three-year contracts, at rates that are some 40-45 percent higher than the previous contract prices.
